Hyderabad: It is already known fact that Telugu actor Ram Charan Teja has teamed up with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who is foraying into Tollywood with the movie Toofan, which is also made in Hindi as Zanjeer. Sources from the production team claim that the film has a steamy scene, which features Cherry and Piggy Chops involved in raunchy stuff. The first trailer of the flick offers a hint at this intimate sequence. Toofan is a remake of 1973 Hindi movie Zanjeer starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya in the lead roles. It is basically an action entertainer and the film revolves around the story of an honest police officer, who is jailed for 6 months on false charges. How he takes revenge will form the crux of the story. Besides action, the romance between Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra is also going to be a highlight in the film

Sanjay Dutt’s sentence in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts announced by the Supreme Court on Thursday does not bode well for the film industry, especially for his friends and the various films he is a part of. The same happened to the actor when he was jailed right about the time of Khalnayak’s release back in 1993. Even though the actor has been given four weeks starting 21 March, 2013 to surrender, it is not sufficient time to wrap up his filming work on his to-be-released films.
Whilst he has completed work for some of the films like Rensil D’Silva’s Unglee, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, there will be repercussions on the films that are currently in the filming stages like the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 70s smash hit, Zanjeer, a supposed Rs 75 crore film, in which Dutt reprises the iconic role of Sher Khan, immortalized by the legendary Pran in the original. But the Zanjeer team is not too worried as they have two days of work left, namely dubbing and such with Dutt, and they hope to accomplish that before he goes to jail. However, when Toofan’s trailer was released recently, fans were surprised to learn that Priyanka’s dialogues had been dubbed. The director seeks divine intervention to ward off the evil eye after a string of unfortunate incidents have put the film in limbo

The fate of a film hangs in balance until the day it hits the screens. Before that, just about anything can go wrong, and when it does, the hapless director better be prepared. It seems Apoorva Lakhia and his ambitious remake of Zanjeer seem to be suffering a similar fate.
At the very start it was the writers of the original film Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar who objected to the remake as they believed it was important that they be consulted by the producers since they had a moral right to the characters and the film’s story. When that issue got resolved, the movie got delayed due to its lead actors suffering back-to-back injuries. At first, it was Ram Charan Teja who was injured while shooting for Nayak and took time to recover and join the cast of Zanjeer. Next was Sonu Sood, who suffered a horrific accident in a Celebrity Cricket League match in Dubai, which put him out of action for almost a month. And as the injury prone cast made its way back to the sets, the film which was already lagging behind in its shooting schedule, suffered two more blows. While Prakash Mehra’s sons picked up a fight over the film’s rights and had the movie trailers barred from being released, one of the main stars of the movie, Sanjay Dutt was sentenced by the Supreme Court to five years imprisonment for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. 'Toofan' will be released on May 10
The remake of 1973's cult-classic 'Zanjeer', which is being simultaneously remade in Hindi and Telugu, has been titled 'Toofan' in Telugu.
Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra are playing the lead in 'Toofan', which also features Srihari and Prakash Raj.
Apoorva Lakhia has jointly produced the actioner with Amit Mehra. It has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
